About Laurie
My professional and personal life are grounded by my higher purpose of deepening awareness and serving as a catalyst for personal and global transformation. My vision is to empower one million women to create a future they desire. In pursuing that vision, my focus every day is on providing transformational coaching and learning experiences that inspire women to own their power, make meaningful changes in their lives, and thrive.
Professional
My years in the public, private, non-profit and education sectors, as well as my experiences traveling in the U.S. and internationally, have inspired a desire for getting to know people, understanding what they feel passionate about, and hearing what is important to them.
I am a women’s empowerment coach, retirement coach for Gen X women, and emerging leaders coach. I also host the Design Your Joyful Retirement podcast, which is for Gen X women who want to prepare for thriving in retirement. We talk about everything from financial freedom, health & wellness, perimenopause and menopause to travel, relationships, downsizing and more.
Through my coaching business, Laurie Crawford Coaching, LLC, I have provided coaching to diverse clients ranging from stay-at-home moms, social workers, artists, small business owners, and non-profit directors to healthcare providers, educators, government officials, journalists, tech industry professionals, and Fortune 500 company leaders.
I am formally trained as a professional coach and hold a Professional Certified Coach credential through the International Coaching Federation, the Gold Standard of professional coaching. I hold a B.S. in Human Resource Management and an M.S. in Management and Organizational Behavior.
Personal
Mom, mimi (grandma), wife, daughter, sister and friend are all names I love to be called. I am mom to Brittany & Meghan and Mimi to Vayda & Rianna. In 2008, I married Kevin, the love of my life. He makes me laugh, is my strongest supporter and with his extroverted nature, keeps our life exciting!
As I look back, my life has always been interesting and exciting! The year I graduated from high school was life changing in many ways. A few months after graduation, I got married, had a baby, and moved from my hometown of Two Rivers, WI to the Washington, D.C. area. It was scary and exciting and everything in between. Even though there were lots of challenges, there were many more opportunities, and I am grateful for every experience.
I am an introvert. To reenergize, I enjoy quiet and having time to reflect. Yoga and meditation help me to stay centered and I love the way both make me feel. In 2000, because of a health issue, I became a vegetarian and have never looked back. I am always looking for new recipes to make delicious and healthy vegetarian meals.
In 1999, I visited Hawaii (the big island, Kauai and Maui) for my friend Jayne’s wedding and was bit by the travel bug. Since then, I have been back to Hawaii twice and have also traveled to the U.K., France, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Portugal, Taiwan, our city’s sister city, Kamogawa Japan, and of course many states in the U.S. My husband and I have hosted guests in our home from India, Sweden, Italy, Argentina, Japan and China.
What I have found is that no matter the community or country, we are all more alike than we are different, and our similarities and differences are something to enjoy and celebrate.

My Values
Presence – We all want to be seen and understood. I commit to being in the moment, right alongside you; meeting you where you are, without judgment; and being fully focused on you and your potential.
Relevance – Coaching is about what you want to achieve and what’s relevant to your life; it’s about your priorities, learning, and growth. I commit to focusing on your future, helping you identify meaningful and measurable goals, monitoring progress, making adjustments where necessary, and celebrating your learning and success along the way.
Abundance Mindset – There is more than enough in this world for everyone. I commit to thinking big, sharing knowledge, connecting people, being grateful, supporting others’ growth, embracing change, being proactive, and learning continuously.
Healthy Living – To bring myself fully to every engagement with you, taking good care of my mind, body, and spirit is essential. I commit to nourishing myself with continuous learning, mindfulness practices, healthy eating, yoga, intentional reflection, and connection with family, friends, and community.
Integrity – Living with integrity is the value that supports all others; it is about bringing my authentic self to every relationship and situation. I commit to honesty, consistency, kindness, and compassion in my words, actions, decisions, methods, and outcomes.
